The majority of grains produced in Australia are wheat-based products including pasta, noodles, and breads. Despite producing only three percent of the world’s wheat (about 25 million tonnes annually), Australia is responsible for 10–15% of the 100 million tonnes of wheat that are traded annually worldwide. Australia produces a wide variety of wheat varieties, such as Australian Soft, Australian Noodle Wheat, Australian Standard White, Australian Prime Hard, Australian Hard, and Australian Premium White.
Desi Chickpeas, one of the two chickpea types produced in Australia also differ from Kabuli chickpeas in Color and size, being darker and smaller, widely sold in Bangladesh, Pakistan, India. these versatile grains with a rougher exterior are often milted into flour.
This big, light-colored member of the chickpea family, traditionally seen in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, is swiftly becoming one of the most popular legumes in the Western world. Kabuli Chickpeas are a multipurpose grain that is strong in protein. They are bigger than Desi Chickpeas and are better suited for salads and creating Hummus.
